Dr. Seuss

Dr. Seuss is standard in our house- and by standard I mean the only thing that we ever read. From Hop on Pop to Green Eggs and Ham to I Can Read with My Eyes Shut- we read almost every Dr. Seuss book we own before bed.

Some kids read nice little bible stories or even ones that say goodnight to the moon or I love you this much... sweet books about cuddling and loving and the world going round and round.

My kid on the other hand likes houses on mouses and Mr. brown being upside down. He loves hopping on pop and telling pat to not sit on that! We can't quite get enough of trying to avoid eating green eggs and ham with a goat or on a boat or on a train or in the rain.

He really loves telling Sam-I-Am that he won't eat green eggs and ham. Or anything other than peanut butter crackers as a matter of fact.

You have to give him some credit though- He picks the short ones first so by the time we get to the end I'm trying desperately to get through Horton Hears a Who without falling asleep myself. It's a great book but after trying to read the same rhymes for 57 pages and counting I think my own eyes get a little too red hot.

I will always love Dr. Seuss- but I'm with out a doubt ready for something a bit more... let's say... something closer to Tolkien.

  1. Dr Seuss is good...but I agree, Tolkien is even better :-)
